Hate Crime in US is spreading like a virus and it is really becoming horrible day by day. Another incident of Hate Crime in US is reported by New York Daily News. The incident took place on Sunday early morning when many sikhs gathered at Times Square for marking “Turban Day” celebrated on vaisakhi. The victim Harkirat Singh, 25, a cab driver took 3 men and a women passengers, all in their 20s – around 5 AM from Eight Avenue and 30th street near Madison Square Garden to some place at Bronx.
After reaching Bronx, they started complaining about the wrong destination where they were dropped by Harkirat. Harkirat told the reporters that the passengers were drunk and made him confused while telling the path to their destination. He also told that passengers called him “Ali baba“and were using abusive language for him. The passengers then began hurling slurs and banging on the plastic partition in his cab, Singh recalled. One of the passenger punched Singh in the arm, and after that snatched his turban.
Harkirat, immigrant from Punjab moved to US three years ago was so scarred that he started crying andbegging the passengers to calm down. He told, “I’m so afraid. I don’t want to work,” Singh told the New York Daily News. “It’s an insult on my religion, also. An insult of my faith. It’s horrible.”
With the police on its way, the group ran away from the scene with Singh’s turban, a primary symbol of the faith. This horrible incident took place just after a week when Sikhs in the United States launched a million-dollar awareness campaign to stop hate-fueled attacks by explaining more about who they are and what they believe.
Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted in his support, saying “Harkirat Singh — You are welcome here. What happened to you was wrong. You did the right thing by calling the NYPD.”

The New York Police Department is investigating the incident as a possible hate crime and searching for one of the suspect as a clean-shaven white Hispanic man in his 20s, around 5-foot-9.
